With the Covid-19 numbers sadly rising daily and efforts being intensified to combat the spread across the nations, the daily rise is increasingly attributable to community transmission which is really worrisome, it has become the responsibility of all stakeholders to continue to emphasise strict adherence to preventive measures so we can jointly combat the spread. Employers should intensify communication on this essential piece to their employees at this time who are working remotely. I thought I'd make this crucial subject of employee wellness specifically on "Covid-19 preventive measures" a career matter for discussion today, to hopefully serve as an urgent reminder to all concerned. I requested a medical doctor friend to kindly share a refresher on the subject for all employees at a time like this. I would like to appreciate my guest writer today Dr Sylvanus Jatto whose content you would be reading below.
Here goes;
The Coronavirus disease is mainly spread from person to person, when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. Such actions can also contaminate objects from which a person can pick up the virus when they touch such surfaces and infect themselves when touching their faces.
The basics of prevention which has always been emphasized remain the best way to prevent and reduce your risk of contacting Covid- 19.
1. Frequent handwashing with soap and water.
2. Regularly sanitize your hands in the absence of water to wash hands.
3. Avoid touching your faces if you have not washed your hands for a while and you have probably touched some things. 4. Avoid large gatherings or crowded places while maintaining at a social distance at all times when outside for any reason. 5. Protect yourself and loved ones by staying at home, avoiding contact with people beyond your immediate abode. 6. Since some people with COVID-19 have been known to be asymptomatic and difficult to identify thereby spreading the virus, wearing of masks is not out of place to ensure that those who are asymptomatic cannot spread the virus easily. 7. Properly clean your homes especially tables, handrails, doorknobs or handles and floors by using water with detergents and if possibly disinfectants. 8. It is advisable not to walk indoors with shoe wares you have gone outside with especially if you have children at home who frequently drop items on the floor and may thereafter pick them up to their mouths. 9. Do not take up the responsibility of taking care of a sick person especially if you do not have a history of where they have been or travelled to recently. Rather ask such persons to seek treatment at the hospital. 10. This is NOT the appropriate time to have visitors in your home, it is advised you do all meetings by phone and other technology platforms. 11. While having a good immunity will not prevent you from contacting COVID-19, it is not out of place to advise that people take good care themselves, eat healthy especially fruits and vegetables and take whatever can help to boost your immunity at this time, a good immunity will help your body to fight the viral infection and make a good recovery. 12. Finally, remember, prevention is better than cure, STAY HOME, stay in-doors and adhere to the preventive measures advised always. Keep safe, keep well, keep your hands clean and keep your social distance! All the very best!!! #Covid-19 #Careermatters #workingfromhome
Very Apt! We shouldn't forget these vital preventive measures just because the lockdown has been eased.
