As you wind down for the week, I thought I'd share a career matter for your reflection. It's something I call "Career Mindfulness'. You know, I often hear people speak of being mindful in general as an attribute of being successful. It recently occurred to me that those who manage their careers successfully also practice 'mindfulness' habitually.
Let me explain, mindfulness is "the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something".
Someone called me up sometime this week requesting career advice and he simply said " I think it's time to move on to another role based on my observations on what is going on around me at work and my ability to progress in this context". We had a very interesting conversation leading to actions he would be taking and it occurred to me he was being mindful about his career and I thought how commendable!
How mindful are you about your career?
How reflective are you about your career aspirations and the actions required overtime?
Career mindfulness and effective career management go hand in hand.
How about spending some time this weekend being mindful of your career? You may want to call up a coach or mentor to help with your reflections.
It promises to be rewarding.
All the best.
